Molarity & Dilution Calculator (C1V1 = C2V2)

Work out how much to weigh for a given molarity and volume, or how much stock to dilute. Leave any one value blank and it is calculated, with unit conversion built in.

Molarity: mass ↔ concentration

Fill in three values and leave the one you want to calculate empty.

Dilution: C₁V₁ = C₂V₂

Fill in three values and leave the one you want to calculate empty.

Runs in your browser. Double-check critical preparations.

How it works

Mass (g) = concentration (mol/L) × volume (L) × molecular weight (g/mol). Dilution follows C₁ × V₁ = C₂ × V₂, and the diluent to add is V₂ − V₁. Units (M, mM, µM, nM; L, mL, µL; g, mg, µg) are converted automatically and results are shown in the most readable unit. For hydrated salts, use the molecular weight of the hydrate printed on the bottle.
