How it works

Maps in mainland China use GCJ-02, an officially required offset of the GPS coordinate system that shifts points by roughly 100–700 metres; Baidu adds a further offset on top (BD-09). This tool uses the widely used public algorithms, and converting back to WGS84 is refined iteratively so round trips are accurate to the millimetre. Points outside China are not shifted, matching how the map apps behave. Results were checked against two independent open-source libraries.
